Untitled (solar eclipse), 2014

“These works are an extension of a current project titled I Want the One I Can’t Have (2012—). Created by exposing construction paper to UV light, these transient images of an eclipsing sun will continue to fade with each passing day, marking the impermanence of human memory in relation to the preservation promised by the photographic image. Because previous works in the series dealt with the photographic desire to stake a claim on geography, this series works with the same human effort to lay claim to inaccessible phenomena.”
Each of the ten kits in the edition include one print on colored construction paper (18x24"), a transparency of the image printed on acetate (17x22"), five sheets of construction paper matching the color of your selected work (18x24") and a set of instructions from the artist (8.5x11") which can be used in conjunction with the other items to reproduce the work.
